Misc facts & oddities

Ken & Brad have played in 3 bands together before Flashback.
    Mandrake    (acoustic/electric duo)
Metro         (short-lived rock outfit with Duane Berge, current drummer for Hard Luck Harry
                        & LIPO)
Impulse       (Rock trio, also with Ken's brother, Jim. See photo at right)

Metro's 1st gig in New Britain was a three-night engagement, which was cut short on the second night due to a murder in the Men's Room!

Ken also played in a local band, Banshee, which included "Gnorm" Gieb and Duane Berge (from local band Hard Luck Harry). He was using a Hammond C3 organ at the time, which we had to lug around. It weighed a ton! Duane is now playing in several bands, including: LIPO (Local Indigenous Personnel Orchestra).

Ken's Hammond C3 organ was so heavy that Brad cut it in half with a circular saw! Then we mounted the electronics on a board and had a custom case built for it!

Ken also toured with the band Satin (Satin Star) for over a year. Ken's fellow band member in Satin was Floyd Patterson (on Bass), son of Boxing Great Floyd Patterson!

Tim B. was also a member of Satin Star (years after Ken left)

Ken & Brad built the Giant Snow rabbit in Milford Cemetery during the Easter Blizzard in the early 80's! It appeared in the Milford Citizen. (photo to follow)

Ken, Scott and Brad worked for several years with local radio personality Brian Smith (formerly from WPLR, now Afternoon/Eve host on WICC) in Bridgeport

Ken & Brad, playing as a two piece Impulse (Jim B. was away on honeymoon), were booked in a Country Western club in Portland, CT. We had no country songs in our set list and had to ask the Bikers to move the pool tables for us to set up! It was a tough night!

Scott was in High School when he joined Flashback (homework sometimes got in the way!)

Brian was front man for the Top 40 band Blue Dawn, along with Doug Edo (now bass player for the Rum Runners) Check out their Web Page here!

Ken & Tony have also appeared with the pickup band The Elwoods

Tony sits in regularly with the local rock band One Way Ticket

Tony, Shel & Brad play in a 4 piece band on the side (Bluerock Band) Click here for details

Don Comeau was leader of the rock trio Gingersling, a popular area band for several years.

Don Comeau also plays Bass & sings in a local band Jack Of Roses out of West Haven.

Brad has played bass with Gingersling on a several occasions.

Brad is Sound Tech for the Rum Runners & plays guitar with them as a stand in now & then.

Bob Pettinelli sits in occasionally for Tony on drums for Flashback practice sessions

Bob Pettinelli also sits in on drums with guitarist Al Ferrante (fabulous player & teacher of Pop artist John Mayer). Al also sits in with Atwood Express and has toured with Edgar Winter & Cindy Lauper

Don Comeau was lead singer/guitarist with the Rum Runners until Nov. 2007, and has a new band called Commercial Interruption which performs all original music in the area. Band members include Don (Bass Guitar/vocals), John Crissey (former Flashback bassist on guitar), Paul Beauparlant on keyboards/vocals, & Carl Chipello (drums). Check them out when you get a chance. Progressive, dynamic, Interesting music. Brad has done sound for this band as well. Check out their MySpace page here.....

Paul Hickman, former soundman for Flashback, and Don Comeau both sit in on sound for Bob Boshea now and then.

Friend Armand Breton (a very talented Bass player himself) also sits in on sound occasionally. He once auditioned for the Julian Lennon band!

Dominic, bass player for Gingersling, has also played with Flashback a couple times. Ed Robichaud was the drummer for Gingersling. His brother, Brian, is one of the Rumrunners Guitarists.

Brad, (Nancy, John, Brian of the Rumrunners) performed at a private picnic in Milford in 2008

Flashback has played every Taste of Milford (now defunct?) event since it's inception years ago!

At two early Flashback shows, Brad took over guitar duties while Thom was away.

Local Music teacher and excellent all-round musician Dave Pederson, sat in with Flashback while Brad was away. (They asked him to stay!)

At the first New Years Eve job (1980?), then band was nearly boo'd off the stage, while one drunken woman used a popular hand expression to represent her feelings toward the band! (I think her name was BITCH)!

At an outdoor show in 1980, we were assaulted by tomatoes, and rightly so!

Bill was the guitar player in the band that performed at Ken & Brad's 8th Grade Graduation Party (1971)!

Impulse (Ken, Brad, Jim B.) played Rocky Mountain Way (a Joe Walsh classic) at Nick & Neils (CT Post Shopping Center) with special guests Bill Bloxsom (on slide Guitar & vocals) & Bob Shea, local Guitar teacher & legend (on Ovation Adamas), and tore the roof off the place! People still talk about it to this day.

The last official performance of Impulse was Oct. 27th, 1990 at Sante's Manor in Milford (now Kingdom Life Church) at a Fundraiser for a local Politician and good friend, Jim Amann (former Speaker Of The House-CT).

Jim Bloxsom & Jim Amann wrote many original songs together over the years, and often performed as Bachman & Cramann, sometimes accompanied by Bill B., Ken B, & Brad.

Brad, Ken & Bill have performed and recorded with the late Bob Bisson, local songwriter & performer who was tragically murdered some years back. He put out a 45 record, a CD and several demo's before his untimely death.

Bill Bloxsom & Bob Bisson were in several bands together growing up in the Milford area

Impulse performed at the Milford Duck Pond and the city forgot to turn on the power! We had to borrow a generator to get the show on the road! Think they were trying to tell us something?

Flashback used to perform on the Milford Green for the Summer Concert Series, but the traffic became a problem and they had to move us down to Fowler Field. Since then, all summer concerts are held in Fowler Pavilion.

Flashback performed a-cappella on the Don k. Reed show in New York City. We remember driving through Manhattan and hearing Don K. Reed announce our upcoming interview as we were on the way to the studio!

Ken, Bill, Brad & Jim Amann performed a tribute to Alice Cooper under the name Chicken Coop on 10/27/90 at Sante's Manor in Milford. Led by Jim A. as Alice, the band rocked through 13 Coop numbers and stunned the unprepared audience, (and also the management due to the volume)! The drummer was a Roland R8 drum machine, and bass duties were handled by the Peavey Midi Bass (mini bates?) module. Bob Boshea on Sound! Jimmy, where's the video????????!!!!!!!
