July 20th
The band performed for the Milford High School Class of 1957 Reunion at the
Grassy Hill Lodge in Derby, CT. Their 45th! The memories came flooding back for
the audience as many classic oldies song's were released in that very year. A
very good turnout for a 45th Reunion! Thanks to Frosty Smith & Ken Hawkins for
inviting us to perform.
July 13th
The Dock Shopping Center in Stratford, CT. A beautiful night for a concert on
the deck. 500+ people packed the deck for Flashback's
2nd annual appearance for the Dock's concert series. Thanks to guest Soundman
Paul Hickman for filling in for Bob this night, as Bob was busy getting married!
Thanks also to Lisa DeGrand and the Dock, Inc for inviting us back this year!
Hopefully, we can make this a yearly event!
July 6th
Norfolk, CT was the setting, the event being the Centennial Celebration of the
Norfolk Vol. Fire Dept. In a town of approx 1600 people, probably 2000 were on
hand for the activities, including a parade featuring area Fire Dept's, and an
excellent fireworks display after the concert. Thanks to Martha Rochelle for
inviting the band to perform.
As this event only occurs once every hundred years, I don't think the band will
witness the next one! We also managed to sneak into the local Pub, which stocks
an incredible variety of beer's from around the world. If you're ever in the
area, do stop by!
July 3rd
Flashback performed a Concert
preceding the Annual Independence Day Fireworks display at Bradley Point in West
Haven, CT. It was a wicked hot day, but everything went according to plan.
West Haven's own Art Gilbert (from the West Haven Fireworks Committee) joined the band onstage for "In The Still Of The Night" and drew rousing applause. A fine job, Art. We understand he'll be retiring this year. He's been instrumental in setting up the fireworks for some time.
Thanks to WPLR & Sam T for sponsoring the event. WPLR Morning Show host Brian Smith was on hand to announce the fireworks following some inspirational words from W.H. Mayor Borer. Also a pre-recorded message from the Mayor, broadcast from the WPLR studios in Milford, and followed by the Pledge Of Allegiance (in it's entirety!) by the whole crowd! Last but not least, a great display of fireworks with a live soundtrack broadcast from the WPLR studios over the band's PA for the crowd to enjoy! Thanks to Art Gilbert and the Firework Committee for inviting us to perform! A great show!
